'Tis the Season to get Married

So Kim and Kanye whipped us all up into a frenzy over the weekend with their long awaited nuptials and the current dissecting of the occasion by pretty much everyone in the world seems to have kick started wedding season 2014 nicely.

As expected, Kim went for the OTT fairytale women are programmed to want from birth complete with princess Kate inspired dress designed by Ricardo Tisci for Givenchy. there's no doubt it was a stunning gown but the full length, ivory lace with a never ending train and veil was predictable and too showy for my liking.

I have to admit though, the choice of venue was definitely my cup of tea. The beautiful Fort Belvedere in Florence has a kind of faded grandeur about it and I love the idea of getting married abroad. In fact if I was getting married there are only two places I'd consider and they're Ibiza and Mykonos. Guaranteed great weather with a laid back feel through the day and a cool party atmosphere in the evening - perfect.

If you're due to be married this summer and happen to agree with me on any of the above I've put together a couple of anti-Kimye wedding looks for your perusal.

Let's see the Ibiza look first...

This is a really youthful, bohemian look - its an Ibiza wedding after all! Avoid Kim n Kate style lace but keep the delicate feel with a broderie anglais dress. This ones from Topshop so you'll want to dress it up a bit with these cute gold sandals from Marc Jacobs and these stunning studs from Lulu Frost available at Liberty.

On your way to the beach (obvs) tear off a handful of bougainvillea from a nearby bush to use as your bouquet - or to wear in your hair if you're really boho - and you'll be ready to walk the aisle to a soundtrack of bongo drums being played by a hippy probably.

The Mykonos look is a bit more grown up and a lot more expensive...

Mind you, the dress is still high street; an elegant long sleeved baby doll from Zara in a dreamy soft blush colour. Chuck on a pair of thousand dollar Manolo Blahnik flats and a some completely unaffordable chandelier earrings from Annoushka and you're ready to take hold of you're bouquet of fat, white peonies and meet your beloved at the poolside altar of your private villa overlooking the turquoise Aegean.

Sounds well nice innit. Any chance of an invite? ;)

No Makeup Bronzer

If you like to keep your look completely natural then it's not easy to find the right bronzer. Most of them have a highlighter included to give your skin a bit of a glisten which make it immediately obvious you're wearing makeup.

If you've been searching for the perfect no makeup bronzer then look no further than Bobbi Brown and her range of predictably natural bronzing powders...

They come in five shades so even if you're super pale like me you'll be able to find something suitable. They're buildable too so no need to go for a darker one in the Summer. Just add a little more than you would in the colder months.

If you think the natural look sounds hideous then top off your Bobbi bronzer with a sweep of one her shimmer bricks for a touch of added glamour. Apricot is the prettiest in my opinion.

If I were a girl

I only have a basic knowledge of art (not even that tbh) but I know what I like to look at. I saw a Mondrian exhibition at The Courthauld Gallery in 2012 and really loved it. Then when I saw this it brought it all back to me...

Beautiful isn't it? I were a girl right now I'd treat myself to it.

I'd usually advise those on a budget to steer clear of seasonal colours when spending a Celine amount of money but seeing as Mondrian and his art have stayed relevant for more than 60 years now I think it's safe to say this bag is a sound investment.

By the way, Tate Liverpool are showing a Mondrian exhibition from June to October so pop along and have a little look if you can.

Awkward Peach

I've been thinking about giving my hair a peachy rinse for ages now but every time I almost get the courage to pop to Boots for a bottle of Bleach hair colour in Awkward Peach my bf totally puts me off.

I think he's worried It'll turn out wrong and I'll lock myself in the bathroom for a week until it's washed out (in fact, the Super Cool Colours only take between 2-10 washes to disappear) but surely it'll all go smoothly and I'll end up looking exactly like this...

I know it's an old pic and her hair has been back to blonde since the Met Gala a few weeks back but she looks amazing as an awkward peach doesn't she?

Shall I do it? Still not sure.
